what you need to know about volunteering

Scheduling your trip

The group maximum for The Call to Build is 10 volunteers.

We are passionate about ensuring that you have a good volunteer experience and that the time you contribute is used productively.

We are often working on multiple homes.   If you have more than 5 volunteers in your group please plan appropriate transportation for at least two separate work crews.

Various Churches are providing volunteer housing through the local Hopkins County Long Term Recovery Committee and volunteers will be asked to complete their registration paperwork.

A Certificate of Insurance from your group's sponsoring institution will be required prior to your arrival

To volunteer please contact us for availability of weeks and to schedule your trip and we will coordinate housing with Hopkins Long Term Recovery.

The facilities and arrangements for most of the Churches is similar.  More specific information will be provided once your housing location has been identified.   Please Visit the "What to Bring" tab for more general information...

YOUTH

While we are excited about engaging youth, there are some parameters on youth participation due to partner agency insurance restrictions:

  • Minimum age for participants is 16

  • Youth age 16 and 17 must have Liability Release and Medical Release signed by parent or court appointed legal guardian

  • Youth age 16 and 17 can not operate equipment, power tools, ladders or scaffolding.   Youth age 16 through 17 must have direct supervision.

  • Youth group leadership must meet gender appropriate requirements

Groups bringing youth will be asked to recruit at least one skilled adult per four youth.

A Certificate of Insurance from your group's sponsoring institution will be required prior to your arrival
